IERC 2025
1st International Entrepreneurship Research Conference
“The Future of Entrepreneurship, Family Business & Education Research:
New Trends & Innovative Practices”
MBSC 20-21-22 & 23 January 2025, KAEC. Jeddah, KSA
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE
Among various managerial practices, entrepreneurial practices remain one of the oldest in the world (Murphy et al., 2006). The term “entrepreneur” has been in common usage since the twelfth century, but the feudal system that dominated Europe and the United States during the Middle Ages hindered the development of entrepreneurship and innovation (Carlsson et al., 2013, p. 913).
The 2017 Research Conference held in Paris brought together leading researchers in various subfields of entrepreneurship. The conference aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of our current knowledge, identify outdated information, and highlight enduring aspects of entrepreneurial practices over time. Additionally, it shed light on key emerging trends, encouraging scholars to explore them further, while also promoting the development of new research designs and methods that may be more suitable for investigating these trends.
Seven years later, it is imperative to provide an update. Beyond the pursuit of enduring knowledge about entrepreneurship that transcends time, there is a pressing need to assess and challenge the relevance of established entrepreneurship knowledge in different contexts (Baker & Welter, 2020), particularly across various geographical regions.
To address this objective, the IERC 2025 brings together scholars, entrepreneurs, educators in entrepreneurship, family business and policymakers. This conference serves as a platform for these diverse stakeholders to convene, exchange ideas, and collaborate.
